All of us already know of the recent devastation by Hurricane Ike to our Gulf Coast Texas community. We live just outside of Houston and experienced first hand the effects of the storm. Many other families are worse off though; a majority are without power and have sustained significant damage to their homes. Volunteers and officials are working diligently to restore power and bring back stability to the area.
While driving around Houston you can’t miss the remnants of Ike; from the once towering pines trees that are now uprooted, fallen street lights to the numerous damaged billboards. Pictures from fly overs of the Galveston area show unbelievable damage to entire subdivisions.
Texans are already out in numbers helping others as well. We have witnessed numerous restaurants providing free bags of ice to those without the power necessary to run their freezers. The local news shows volunteers eagerly loading cars with water bottles and toiletries.
As part of our efforts, Margarita Texas will be donating a portion of all sales of the Margarita Texas Member Card to aid these families through trying times. Additionally, we will match the portion collected through sales 100 percent.
With everyone’s continued help we can bring back some normalcy to those whose lives were turned upside down by this act of nature.
