While the creator of the first margarita and the origins of National Margarita Day are somewhat unclear, it is evident that people love consuming margaritas. And as the warmer months arrive, so do people seeking mouth watering margarita recipes.
In Texas, temperatures start to rise around this time of the year but throughout the country snow still covers the ground. Unless February 22nd has historical significance in relation to the margarita, maybe a summer month would would have made a more reasonable day.
We celebrate Margarita Day everyday around here but if you need a reason to drink the world’s most popular cocktail, such as a national day, don’t forget to crack open a bottle of your favorite 100% blue agave tequila, some orange liqueur and start squeezing some limes.
National Margarita Day Margarita (Classic Margarita)
- 3 parts of tequila
- 2 parts of orange flavored liqueur
- 1 part of fresh lime juice
- Coarse kosher salt (for rim of glass)
- Lime wedge (for garnish)
- Ice cubes
