Type of Margarita Tasted: House frozen margarita

Review: La Fiesta in Waco has participated and placed in many of the Margarita and Salsa Festivals held each year in the city. We had read many positive recommendations on their drinks so we decided to stop by for our own taste. The frozen jumbo is poured straight from their margarita machine with what appeared to be the alcohol poured over top of the thick lime base. This procedure caused the drink to not mix properly so you either received a straw full of alcohol or oversweet mix. After vigorously stirring the drink to melt it down into something drinkable, unfortunately, we were left with just an average drink.

Type of Margarita Tasted: House margarita, Jalapeņo margarita and Don Julio margarita
Ingredients Listed on Menu: Don Julio margarita - Grand Marnier Don Julio tequila
Review: Maudies Milagro in Austin provides the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a margarita. They offer an excellent selection of tequilas and creative drinks on their menu. First on our tasting list was the fiery Jalapeņo margarita. This drink was not overwhelming spicy and may even appeal to those with weaker taste buds. We thought they could go a little hotter but we love torturing ourselves. The house margarita and Don Julio version were mixed to perfection allowing the agave to break through the freshness of the lime in this drink.

Review: Sergio's Mexican Grill is one of the newer restaurants serving up margaritas in the Cypress area. Our cocktail was served up in a portion that would make any margarita lover drool. The taste was of fresh ingredients poured to the classical balance of sweet and sour. This drink goes down extremely smooth so beware.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Big Texan Double Agave Margarita
Ingredients Listed on Menu: Sauza Conmemorativo, Agavero Agave liqueur and Patron Citronage orange liqueur and margarita mix
Review: It's called the Big Texas for a reason; this margarita combines a massive collection of flavorful ingredients into a jumbo glass. This drink has a complex taste produced from their selection of liqueurs and tequila. We found this margarita a tad too sweet for our palates, making it slightly harder to guzzle down the giant beverage. Using a less cloying margarita mix and one with a sour profile could make this drink phenomenal.

Review: Xuco Xicana replaced El Patio in the same location under a new name and restaurant concept. We previously reviewed their potent blue margaritas which still exist on the new menu. This time around we went on the less venturous side and decided to sample the house margarita. The lime character dominated while letting through a subtle hint of tequila. While two of these may not knock you on the floor like its blue older brother, this margarita is extremely smooth and easy to drink.

Type of Margarita Tasted: Don Julio Margarita on the rocks
Ingredients Listed on Menu: Don Julio Blanco tequila, Grand Marnier
Review: During our visit to Cyclone Anaya's, we decided on the jumbo Don Julio margarita directly off of their selective drink menu. The oversized drink was delivered promptly and we dove right into our sampling. This well mixed drink had an excellent taste of fresh lime juice with the tequila pushing its way through. All of the ingredients were mixed to the perfect ratio, making this a well executed cocktail that is impressively smooth.
